Elisabet Sahtouris

The Globalization of humanity is a natural, biological, evolutionary process. Yet we face an enormous crisis because the most central and important aspect of globalization-its economy-is currently being organized in a manner that so gravely violates the fundamental principles by which healthy living systems are organized that it threatens the demise of our whole civilization.

I have gained and sustained my optimism as a humble student of our living universe, our living Earth, which clearly shows us the way out of our adolescent crisis into a mature global future. The sooner we create our vision of all we desire, set our intention to implement it together, and put our individual capacities into collective action, the greater our chances of success.

We are capable of regaining our reverence for life, of replacing the drive to conquer with the will to cooperate, of remaking our engineered institutions, including our corporations, into living systems.

Nature of Perception / Perception of Nature, Elisabet Sahtouris

This talk was recorded at SAND13 Europe, Dorn, The Netherlands

Perception depends not only on signals from our surround but the way we process those signals through our core stories about our world. Secular societies gave science the mandate to tell us how to perceive nature-- who we are in what kind of world. But the story science gave us has landed us in a heap of crises that seem insurmountable! Fortunately, science itself is changing its stories about the nature of perception and its (far more inclusive) perception of nature in ways that give us hope not only for solving those crises, but for co-creating the world we really want, the world that works well for all life.
